Andrew Tudor introduced the idea that women in horror films should be strong and independent individuals instead of the stereotype of weak and vulnerable. This is more significant to a modern day genre. This would change the importance of a womens role in a horror film then just being a victim.
Some examples include Carrie, who starts of weak but develops into a stronger person throughout the film
Another example is Buffy from the tv series, she is constantly shown as a threat to the enemy and the show is based around her.
