Our preliminary task was to film a shot of a door opening and then a conversation between 2 people. We had to use the 180 degree rule to film the conversation. Below is a diagram explaining it.
The 180 degree is a basic guideline to follow when filming a relationship between two characters or an object. When filming the conversation we had to make sure we didn't cross the imaginary line in the middle. If we crossed this line it would look like the people having the conversation were talking to nobody. We also had to film a door opening. We had to be careful when doing this otherwise it would look like the door was opened twice.
This is our better version of the task. There are still some mistakes like the camera being moved whilst filming and the door appearing to be opened twice. Charles and Ed played the part of conservationists. Brian was the camera man. We used the tables in the room to make sure that we didn't break the 180 degree rule.
WWW: We gained an understanding of how to film a conversation and how to film a door opening.
What did we learn: During our filming we learned a lot about how to properly show a door opening a how to film a conversation. During the editing process we learned a lot of new techniques which helped to make the video look better.
