Preliminary Task, in the preliminary task little to no editing techniques were used, this is due to our original knowledge of editing being little to nothing, none of us were able to use the program final cut with any skill as being new to the media subject we were novices.
film techniques, we understood a small amount of film techniques before hand keeping all scenes in a midshot.
Final OTS in the final ots we learnt a large amount of knowledge when it cam to using final cut pro, the software became second nature to us. this allowed us to squeeze out the most from the clips we had filmed and trying new techniques with the software adding to our knowledge and work.
camera techniques, we employed techniques such as Midshot/Shaky Camera: In our preliminary video we used the midshot to show the conversation between ed and Charles, the camera was also slightly shaky because we weren't using a tripod. In our Final OTS we use the midshot again, but this time it was a lot more professional, the camera was on a tripod and the angle didn't change.
LIGHTING: HERE YOU CAN SEE WE JUST USED A CLASSROOM LIGHT AND PAID NO ATTENTION TO LIGHTING IN OUR PRELIM, HOWEVER IN OUR OTS WE CAREFULLY CONSIDERED LIGHTING USING LIGHTS AND ANGLES.
CASTING: WE NEVER EVEN THOUGHT ABOUT WHO WOULD PLAY WHAT ROLES IN OUR PRELIM, HOWEVER IN OUR OTS WE DECIDED CAREFULLY WHO COULD PLAY WHAT ROLES, WE DID THIS TO MAKE SURE OUR OTS COULD BE EFFECTIVE.
PLANNING - STORYBOARD / SCRIPT: FOR OUR PRELIM WE NEVER CREATED A STORYBOARD OR SCRIPT BECAUSE WE FELT NO NEED FOR IT, IN OUR OTS WE CREATED A STORYBOARD AND SCRIPT WE ENABLED US TO HAVE A GOOD IDEA HOW TO FILM.
PROPS: WE HAD NO PROPS FOR OUR PRELIM BECAUSE WE HAD NO NEED FOR THEM, WE USED SEVERAL PROPS IN OUR FINAL OTS BECAUSE WE NEEDED THEM TO ENHANCE THE STORY AND THE CHARACTERS NEEDED THEM.
CHOICE OF LOCATIONS: FOR OUR PRELIM WE DIDN'T HAVE A SPECIFIC IDEA OF WHERE WE FILMED SO WE WENT ANYWHERE, HOWEVER IN OUR OTS WE NEEDED SPECIFIC PLACES WHICH WOULD IMPACT OUR OTS.
COSTUME: WE HAD NO REASON TO HAVE COSTUMES IN OUR PRELIM, HOWEVER IN THE FINAL OTS THE COSTUMES WERE IMPORTANT BECAUSE THEY IMPACTED THE STORY AND AUDIENCE.
EFFECTS IN EDITING: WE DIDN'T ADD ANY EFFECTS IN OUR PRELIM AND BARELY EDITED IT, HOWEVER WITH OUR PRELIM WE HAD SEVERAL EFFECTS SUCH AS TRANSITIONS AND AUDIO AND IT WAS EDITED HEAVILY BECAUSE OF THE AMOUNT OF RECORDING.
