When filming the the first brief we were given (the exchange with a romantic theme) we did not stick it therefore it ended up as a failure- we had only used scenes that were more to do with comedy; however our group learnt lots as a result of getting this wrong- as you can see below we have listed all the do's and dont's of filming:
DO'S
Stick to the brief
Always plan using a storyboard
We never made a storyboard for this brief - as a result the story was muddled and disorganised
Use a tripod
Use a simple storyline
Our story was way too complicated and as a result meaning was not made clear to the audience
Do a risk assessment
Use a variety of shot types
Our first attempt tended to be shot all in mid shot - which made it boring for the audience to watch as there must be a range of shots in order to trigger different feelings from the viewers.
Make sure your casting decisions are good
It is important you get the right actors in your film, if you're making a comedy it is important to get people that are naturally funny. Where as if you're making an action film you will need people that can be serious. Since we are making a horror sequence we will need to make sure our actors can be like-able and pull off a character in distress. In our brief we originally went for a romantic idea, but realized our cast of all males was not suited for this genre, so we switched to a comedy which worked out better.

Plan your location carefully
Since we were just making a simple short comedy it didn't quite matter what location we used, but when filming the real thing we will need to pick out spots perfect for the scene. We will most likely need to choose darker spots than usual to give the idea of night-time.

DON'TS
Stay away from the zoom function.
Don't film a drama. When filming a horror film make sure you do not make too many serious scenes or make a huge plot that focuses on emotions or feelings.
Do not use inappropriate props. In our brief we used some different props to make some puns. These we appropriate because we were filming a comedy, however when it comes to the real thing we will only need to use things like sharp objects (knifes, swords) or blunt objects like bats. You could used a gun but then it could become more off a action. The props you use will depend on the type of horror, when its set and where.
